The circumstances arising from the changing world are not much better for a calm and peaceful normal life when compared to the good old days. This understanding has created a spirit of enquiry in the
mind of those who closely make a social analysis. The rapid spread of so called modernization totally alienated the mankind from the organic situation.
Once upon a time ,the inhabitants could in seperably
link various art forms with the work in which they had
engaged. This situation was totally in harmony with
the nature, and had provided a life in it’s fullness.
Agriculture was the backbone to make their both ends
meet. It had not been commercialized in any respect.
Deficiencies were met with the barter system. In short, agriculture with different folk songs and other art forms was the one and only life culture.
Unfortunately, now a days , the mankind is moving far from the realities. The new economic policy is creating a wide gulf between the haves and havenots. Absolute poverty is everywhere in its different manifestations. The globe itself is afraid of a possible nuclear war. Religious fundamentalism recruits even the teenagers to extremism. The food we produce is not only insufficient but also poisonous .The water we drink and the air we breath also are extremely polluted . Global warming, depletion of the ozone, and the unpredictable climate change collectively throw a big question mark before the very existence of mankind. Taking the above factors into consideration , Mr.S.N.Sudheer, the Secretary of WIWA has come out with the concept of organic theatre which commemorates the harmonious blending of our life with the rhyme and rhythm of nature. The organic theatre sows both the seeds & seedlings of farming and organic theatre together.
To put the organic theatre in practice WIWA has started its work in Trivandrum district right from 2015 by organizing like minded farmers of 20 villages. Awareness seminars and trainnings were conducted with input sessions and discussions both at indoor and outdoor. The one act play entitled’ Jaiva'( organic) was acted out in the programme. It could attract the spectators to the process of organic farming .
On 27th September 2016, WIWA could stage a drama named” Matsya Kannyaka”to promote organic farming in connection with the Neyyar Mela at Neyyattinkara. Again on 22″ 23rd 24th march 2017 yet another programme was conducted for the Bharath Bhavan, Cultural Affairs Department, Kerala for promoting the organic theatre. The three days programme was attended by the representatives of Local Self Government from all the 14 districts of Kerala.
However, our dream project Organic Theatre could not have been a successful reality, unless the financial assistance from NABARD was released. Ofcourse, this was the first one in its series; and its spirit will reflect all over Kerala in the days to come. Finally, let us take this opportunity to express our heart felt gratitude to the heads and hands sincerely supported us in this endeavour.

Kalamachal, Vamanapuram Gramma Panchayat, Trivandrum District
The Organic theatre programme has conducted at Kalamachal, Vamanapuram Gramma Panchayat, Trivandrum District. The programme is indended to restore the agriculture practices by inspiring the villagers through the presentation of different art forms especially through the drama which is much more influencing the spectators. The conservation of soil, water and the biodiversity is highly essential in the present situation. But to train and equip the inhabitants towards the task of conservation process is not an easy job. The stereotype awareness building proves will not be sufficient enough to influence the people. To prepare whole atmosphere conducive to the process of Agriculture we need to interweave the spirit of art and agriculture together. To put the above said idea in to practice, on a ten acre plot at Kalamachal the Organic theatre process has been initiated in collaboration with the Bharath Bhavan.
