  Organic Theatre

wiwa organic farming
WIWA has been working with farmers of 20 villages in the Trivandrum District with the objective of promoting organic farming and organic theatre. The wide spread application of chemical fertilizers pesticides and insecticides had damaged the total healthy food system. The food we eat ,the water we drink, the air we breath are all polluted and consequently the fatal disease like cancer along with numerous lifestyle disease are encircling the human life.
Taking all these factors in to consideration, WIWA feels that only alternative left with us is bringing the new generations to a culture very much suited to the nature. Accordingly, WIWA has been propagating the need of organic farming with its good old value systems among the farmers, students, women and the general public at the selected 20 villages. Thus at present we have 20 farmers forums which are grouped in to four clusters. As a part of this programme we had prepared an one act play entitled “Jaiva” and performed it at the Vailopally Samskriti Bhavan, Trivandrum on 18th April 2016.

  Red Mirror

Red mirror was a dramatic presentation to force the people to open their eyes towards the evils of the existing patriarchal system, which couldn’t see the female other than their physical structure. The drama throws a bundle of questions towards the spectator in depth. The programme was performed on 18th July at BTR Bhavan, Manjalikulam Road, Trivandrum.

  Practical Interventions

An orientation programme was conducted at the EVUP School Compound for the natives including women, youth, children, farmers, Parents & Teachers Association and for the like minded individuals who joined there. Then each section of the participant was assigned with the task of starting organic farming at the plots to which they were assigned. Without any delay they started land preparation, preparation of organic fertilizers and pesticides, and the collection of seeds & seedlings. Every day the responsible group reached the farm in time; and the agricultural process went forward without any interruption. Periodical training was given to them with the help of subject experts. During the Onam Festival Season the harvesting process began amidst the rejoicing of the people.
As a by product of this organic farming process, drawing inspiration from the above mentioned collective farming at Koothali, the farmers, women, children, & youth started the same way of cultivation at their respective homesteads too. This enthusiastic way of cultivation from a common centre to their respective homesteads is really the starting of the organic village formation
